New added value for REWE Group customers

epay expands the pilot project for the innovative eKiosk for the gift card range of the retail group.

New added value for REWE Group customers

Martinsried (Munich), May 15, 2019:

The future is already here in the retail sector, and promises new interaction possibilities with customers. Driven by technological advances such as artificial intelligence and augmented reality in combination with smart data, and by pioneers who are leading the way.

This is the role that the REWE Group plays by immediately equipping Rewe and Penny supermarkets throughout Germany with around 90 eKiosks as part of the pilot project expansion, pushing forward the digitization of their own gift card range at the point of sale. The whole concept, which comprises hardware, software, support, and content, is being implemented by the long-term partner epay. The leading international full-service provider for payment transactions, gift card and prepaid solutions took on the technical and commercial realization at the beginning of the year for REWE Group’s full German gift card range and is also acting as a partner for omni-channel marketing.

„The REWE Group order is very significant for us – as the exclusive partner, we make a material contribution to the improvement of cross-channel and pioneering customer experience management, and the eKiosk is the next joint step in this venture.“

– Marc Ehler
Managing Director epay Europe

The eKiosk offers dedicated content and additional offer verticalization options besides the traditional gift card mall. It is a modular system with touchscreen display, printer, PC including internet connection, 2D scanner, NFC, and Bluetooth. This equipment enables a higher level of flexibility than ever before and speed in addressing customers, and can be quickly adapted to customers’ needs. With its intuitive user guidance, it offers customers comprehensive information, allowing them to find the product they want with a maximum of three clicks.

With its intuitive user guidance, it offers customers comprehensive information, allowing them to find the product they want with a maximum of three clicks. And thanks to a design harmonized with the Rewe card environment, customers will feel immediately comfortable. Centralized offer management considerably reduces the effort for all involved. For the first time, promotions and time-limited offers can focus on regional needs and demand structures in the participating supermarkets at short notice.

This makes the eKiosk a scalable platform for content and campaign management. With the eKiosk, epay plans many more innovative services for retailers in the future.
