This includes all in-person transactions, the Airbräu online store operated by Allresto, and all domestic and international payment methods. For Germany’s second-largest airport and a major European aviation hub, modernizing its payment infrastructure is of both strategic and operational importance. 

By consolidating its existing system landscape, the 5-Star Airport is improving processes and increasing efficiency. All payment flows of Flughafen München GmbH and its subsidiaries in gastronomy (Allresto) and retail (eurotrade Flughafen München Handels-GmbH) will now be centrally managed through epay’s end-to-end platform. The solution helps the airport reduce technological complexity, simplify processes, and manage all payment operations through a single point of contact. To prevent any economic disruption in its business-critical 365-day operation, implementation took place during ongoing operations. The replacement of software and hardware for store and parking terminals was completed seamlessly and without interruption.

Omnichannel Consolidation Drives Process Optimization 

epay will process payments across a wide range of channels through its single platform, sustainably optimizing the airport’s technology-related process costs. The consolidated setup includes traditional point-of-sales (POS) terminals in shops and restaurants, self-service terminals in parking facilities, employee badge top-up stations, modern SoftPOS solutions, and fully integrated e-commerce payments. 

As a result, the Airbräu online shop and conference room bookings through municon, for example, will now be processed centrally via epay using PayByLink. In addition, epay plans to introduce user-friendly, revenue-enhancing value-added services at the point of sale, including convenient QR code-based table payments in food service locations.
