epay launches new, integrated payment solution for ADAC road patrols

Martinsried (Munich) / 30. July 2025

epay, one of the leading full-service providers of prepaid and payment solutions in Europe and part of Euronet Worldwide, Inc., has provided a new payment solution specifically for the ADAC. This integrates, on an Android basis, the payment and the POS and merchandise management apps provided by the ADAC. The new point-of-sale technology is already in use in the ADAC road patrol vehicles, the ‘Yellow Angels’, and enables maximum flexibility and efficiency in payment processing, merchandise management and the POS system.

The solution comprises an Android-based POS terminal with an integrated receipt printer and a network-independent M2M SIM card from O2 Telefónica. This ensures the road patrol driver terminals are ready for use at all times throughout Germany and in the areas bordering neighboring countries, and that the terminals are using the best mobile network available in each case. The POS terminals provide the ADAC with seamless integration of payment processing and of the POS and merchandise management system. These communicate with each other and are linked in an optimal way.

One terminal, three networked applications – a well-designed solution
The innovative POS solution comprises three apps combined together for processing all the popular payment methods in use while on the move. This means that road patrol drivers are able to process payments made using credit and debit cards, girocards and other common payment methods. The integrated POS and merchandise management apps also ensure smart inventory management.

The devices were rolled out by epay using a comprehensive logistics process. A dedicated fulfillment line was set up to ensure that over 1,500 terminals were adapted to ADAC requirements – this included the integration of the SIM cards and the presetting of specific functions. The terminals also have a charging capability with cabling that was individually designed by ADAC. This is installed in ADAC road patrol vehicles, ensuring that the terminals are ready to use at all times.

“Our new POS solution for the ADAC road patrol is a great example of customized technology focused on mobility requirements. By innovatively combining smart merchandise management, the POS system and flexible payment processing, we are enabling the Yellow Angels to work even more efficiently,” explains Jens Ladenthin, Head of Key Account Management at epay. “We are delighted to have been able to successfully implement this project together with our partners and to be able to continue to support the ADAC as a strong partner.”

Long-standing partnership and individual support
The implementation of this project is a further example of the successful cooperation over many years between epay and ADAC. epay attaches great importance to providing individual support to customers and is proud to provide tailored solutions which meet specific ADAC requirements in an optimal way.
