Days of Caring in spring 2025 at epay in Germany: giving something back as a team
At epay Germany, our Days of Caring represent our commitment to making a difference in the communities where we operate—while also strengthening the bonds between colleagues. This spring, 57 dedicated participants took part in three meaningful projects in collaboration with Caritas and BUND Naturschutz München.
Caritas Second-Hand Shop / Fashion Truck (02.04.)
For the first time, epay employees teamed up with the Caritas Second-Hand Shop Wieder.Fair.Wenden and the Fashion Truck for a Day of Caring. Under a bright blue sky, we started the day in Munich’s Maxvorstadt district, where we emptied the external storage and packed the Fashion Truck to the brim with donated clothing.
We then headed to the newly opened Second-Hand Shop in downtown Munich. There, we unloaded the truck, carried the boxes into the central storage area, and began sorting the clothes—box by box, item by item—to prepare them for sale.
A special highlight was the heartfelt gratitude expressed by the Caritas team. We’re already looking forward to the next opportunity to support!
Magdalenenpark Pasing (09.05)
Our second Day of Caring this year brought us back to Magdalenenpark, where we continued our work on the site under the guidance of BUND Naturschutz. Since its public opening late last year, the park has become a place of relaxation and recreation, as well as a habitat for diverse plant and insect species and a space for environmental education.
After a short tour of the grounds, we got to work: weeding, planting flowers, sifting soil, and mowing the lawn. A particularly fascinating moment was learning about the snail shell mason bee—a tiny marvel of nature that uses snail shells to build and camouflage its nest. We even built a small protective fence around one of these nests.
A shared lunch in the sunshine rounded off the day, leaving us with the rewarding feeling of having contributed to nature conservation.
Caritas Mädchenheim Gauting (03.05.)
Another Day of Caring took us to the Caritas Mädchenheim Gauting—a youth welfare facility we previously supported in 2020. The center provides educational, psychological, and social support to young girls and women.
To start the day, the staff gave us valuable insights into their work and the challenges they face. Then we rolled up our sleeves: under sunny skies, we redesigned the two inner courtyards, weeded large garden beds, and prepared them for new planting. We also spruced up an area for an upcoming celebration—clearing overgrowth from a wall and cleaning furniture for the event.
It was a day full of dedication, teamwork, and meaningful impact.
Magdalenenpark Pasing (04.06)
Our final Day of Caring this spring brought us once again to Magdalenenpark—this time for the first time together with our colleagues from cadooz rewards. After a brief introduction and a guided tour by Martin from BUND Naturschutz, we got straight to work.
The main task was removing dried grass from the lawn, which we then stacked into traditional “Heumandl” hay bundles—creating new habitats for insects. We also weeded, transplanted seedlings, removed pests, and replanted flowers.
After a well-earned snack break, Martin shared more fascinating facts about biodiversity and showed us the newly created demonstration gardens, which are used for workshops. We also revisited the snail shell mason bee’s nest and its protective fence.
These projects were a testament to what we can achieve together when we combine hard work, learning, and the joy of giving back. A big thank you to everyone who participated—your energy and enthusiasm made all the difference!
We’ll continue to make an impact through future Days of Caring!
